Privacy policy

This is a small website run by one person. I want it to feel that way when it comes to your information too. The short version: I collect as little as possible, I don't sell anything to anyone, and I try to be honest about what does happen behind the scenes.

What I collect

Contact form submissions. When you send a message through the contact form, I receive your name, email address, and the contents of your message. I use that information only to reply to you and, if we end up working together on a cooking project, to follow up about scheduling.

Basic site analytics. Like most websites, the server that hosts this site keeps short-lived logs of which pages were requested, approximate location (country or region only), and the type of browser used. This is aggregate, not tied to your identity, and I use it only to understand which resources are useful and to keep the site running.

Information you enter into the tools. The calorie calculator, BMI tool, hydration estimator, and food tracker all run entirely in your web browser. None of the numbers you enter are sent to me or to any third party. The food tracker saves your daily log to your own browser's local storage so it's still there when you come back, but I cannot see it and clearing your browser data removes it.

What I don't do

  • I don't sell, rent, or trade your information.
  • I don't run advertising networks or behavioral ad pixels.
  • I don't have a newsletter that auto-subscribes you to anything.
  • I don't share contact form messages with anyone.

Cookies and similar technologies

The site uses minimal, functional storage only — primarily the local storage entry the food tracker needs to remember your log on your own device. There are no third-party tracking cookies and no cross-site identifiers.

Third parties

The site is hosted on a commercial web hosting provider, and the contact form runs through an email service that handles delivery. These providers may briefly process your message in transit (this is how email works). They are not given permission to use your information for their own purposes.

Web fonts on this site are loaded from Google Fonts. Google may receive your IP address when those font files are requested. If you'd rather opt out, browser extensions that block third-party requests will prevent the font load — the site will simply use your system's default fonts.

Working with me on a cooking project

If you book a cooking session, meal blueprint, or recipe development project, any details you share for that engagement (household preferences, allergies, pantry inventory, etc.) are used only to do the work and are not connected to anything on this website. I delete project files within 12 months of completion unless you ask me to keep them longer.

Your rights

You can ask me at any time what information I have that's tied to you (typically just past contact form messages), to send you a copy, or to delete it. Email hello@kristelstaci.com and I'll respond within a couple of weeks. If you're a California or EU resident, this is your right under applicable privacy laws (CCPA and GDPR) regardless.

Children

This site is intended for a general adult audience. I don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent me something through the contact form, please let me know and I will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If I make a meaningful change to how this site handles information, I'll update the "last updated" date at the top and, if the change is significant, I'll mention it briefly on the homepage for a while.

Questions

Email me directly at hello@kristelstaci.com, or use the contact form. I read everything.
